Recovering your feeling

The stroke probably damaged your sense of touch, you may be wondering if you will ever be able to feel things with your impaired side the same way that you used to be able to. Many survivors report that they can feel pressure but not the texture of things that are touching them. You might feel like there are ants marching up and down your impaired side, giving a weird tingly feeling to that side. If that feeling is really overwhelming and distracting, you can do something to temporarily overwhelm the sensory portion of your brain such as take a hot or cold shower. The onslaught of sensation that a shower provides frequently can reset the discomfort you feel from the sensation issues.
