Three main stroke recovery therapies

Occupational Therapy

This therapy is a misnomer. It has nothing to do with your occupation. Instead, occupational therapy will focus on small muscles like your hands, and also life skills like brushing your teeth, driving, and cooking. Check out our pages for driving, wrist rehab, and kitchen tools for occupational therapy tips.

Speech Therapy

Speech therapy is another misnomer. Speech therapy does help correct your impaired speech, but it is much bigger than that. Speech therapy will also work on impaired cognitive skills such as speed of processing, deductive, reasoning, and situational awareness. Check out our page for voice rehab for voice focused speech therapy tips.

Physical Therapy

Here you will work on relearning to walk, you will work with your physical therapist to learn how to use a walker, a cane, and if possible, how to walk properly. Check out our pages for leg, arm, shoulder, and foot rehab for physical therapy tips.

We are a group of young stroke and brain injury survivors spread around the world who refuse to give up on recovering from our injuries. We were shocked by our own injuries and had to learn all of this information on our own. We want to share what we have learned to help you advocate for yourself as a young survivor.
